Sustainability played a key role in the project’s design. The Community Centre was powered by solar panels and onsite battery storage, enabling off-grid operation and supporting essential park infrastructure, including lighting and the splash pad.The opening event ran from 10am to 2pm and featured live entertainment, food stalls, kids’ activities, outdoor games and giveaways. It followed the recent success of the South Jerrabomberra Dog Park opening — another important achievement in the area’s evolution. The celebration included remarks from a number of speakers and special guests, including Deputy Mayor Esma Livermore, future Village Building Company CEO Rob Fisher, QPRC Mayor Kenrick Winchester, Minister Steve Whan, Minister Tara Moriarty, Ms Rebecca Ryan and MC Ned Breward. Their comments highlighted the importance of the project for the growing community.“This project was a shining example of what Village stands for — building innovative, thriving communities that bring people together,” said Rob Fisher, Deputy CEO of The Village Building Company.“These facilities give residents a place to gather, celebrate and enjoy,” added Jamie Cregan, General Manager ACT.NSW Minister for Regional Development and South Jerrabomberra resident Tara Moriarty described the opening as “a wonderful milestone,” while QPRC Mayor Kenrick Winchester noted the park would become “a place for everyone to relax, play and connect.”The project was supported through the NSW Government’s Regional Job Precinct Program, including a $150,000 contribution toward the learn-to-ride facility. As the community celebrates this new chapter, attention now turns to the next phase of development. Construction of the South Jerrabomberra Town Centre is set to begin in early 2026, with a planned 2027 opening. The Town Centre will deliver a supermarket, cafés, retail and specialty stores, creating a vibrant lifestyle and shopping hub for the region. The successful launch of the South Jerrabomberra Town Park and Community Centre marked not just the opening of new facilities, but the beginning of a dynamic new heart for the community — one poised to grow, connect and thrive for years to come.
